Reader and neighbor Karen Ramsey sent in an update on local bike shop The Daily Rider (600 H Street NE) that appears below (slightly edited for time formatting).

The Daily Rider is finally being cleared to open in their new space at 600 H Street NE. Today, January 31st will be an open house during regular hours for customers to drop in and explore the new space or schedule a bike tune-up or repairs. They expect to be fully up and running on February 1st. Hours remain the same (M-F from 10am–7pm; Sat 10am–6pm; Sun 12–6pm).

The new space is much larger than the old shop in the 1100 block and brings many benefits to customers. The door is much wider so it is easier to move bikes in and out the shop. There is also a customer waiting lounge where you an sit if you are waiting for a small repair to be completed. The repair area is also much larger and there can be up to four mechanics working at any one time, cutting down on repair wait times. Instead of housing extra bikes and parts in warehouses, there is storage to have more bikes and parts on site.

What is going on at the end of that block? The sidewalk between the Apollo and WeWork has been closed and staged for construction.

Glad they are back in business, and the new space looks great. They've always done a good job for me and the customer service is exceptional.
