Knock Out Overdose Fundraiser at the Pug June 14th
The Pug (1234 H Street NE) is teaming up with HIPS and Palace Productions for a fundraiser Thursday, June 14th (8–10pm). The Opioid Epidemic has penetrated the District of Columbia and with the deadly combination of Heroin and Fentanyl, the number of opioid related deaths in D.C. increased by 140 percent between 2014 and 2016. To prevent another preventable opioid related death, HIPS continues to be on the frontlines fighting the epidemic by providing Naloxone (Narcan) to drug users. However, with an increase in overdoses, higher need for the availability of Narcan and limited budget, HIPS has taken some punches themselves.
In support of the effort to win the match on June 14th, pints can be filled with the Pug's Fundraiser Lager from 8pm to 10pm for $20 (all you can drink). The proceeds of the fundraiser allows HIPS to maintain a supply of Narcan and drug testing strips. HIPS staff and volunteers will be on sight providing Narcan training and an opportunity to get a free Narcan Kit. Join us in beating the opioid epidemic.
HIPS (906 H Street NE) is a harm reduction organization that promotes the health, rights, and dignity of individuals and communities impacted by sexual exchange and/or drug use due to choice, coercion, or circumstance. The Pug is a neighborhood watering hole with a heart of gold located on H Street NE. Palace Productions is D.C. based entertainment production company that believes in doing the right thing.
