A couple awoke early this past Thursday morning to find a stranger wielding a knife in their bedroom. The male intruder demanded cash, and when the victims could not produce it he forced the couple in vehicle with him. According to an MPD press release they were driven to a nearby store and were instructed to withdraw money from the ATM and give it to their kidnapper. According to a Fox5 report the victims each withdrew $200 and handed it over to the kidnapper, who then handed over to them a backpack he had loaded with some of their belongings and fled the scene. The home invasion happened about 3:25am Dec. 6 in the 1200 block of West Virginia Avenue NE. The suspect was last seen running down an alley in the 1200 block of Mt. Olivet Road NE. In response to a question on Twitter Fox5 reporter Lauren DeMarco indicated that the suspect gained entry to the home through an unlocked window.
