Biz Journal on Streetscape Money

This link was left in a comment to a previous post, but I'm reposting so people don't miss it. This is mostly just more talk about DC's Great Streets program. H Street will get a piece of the pie.

So, is this part of, or in addition to, the $26 M. DDOT has pladged to H Street?

This is from DC Watch's May '05 Newsletter:

DDOT Investment Plan: TOTAL INVESTMENT PACKAGE over $100 million

* H Street, NE - $26 million
* Benning Road, NE - $20 million
* Nannie Helen Burroughs, NE - $6 million
* Minnesota Avenue, NE - $6 million
* Pennsylvania Avenue, SE (East of the Anacostia) - $13 million
* Martin Luther King, Jr. / Good Hope Road, SE/South Capitol Street, SE (East of
the Anacostia) - $15 million
* Georgia Avenue, NW - $20 million

It looks like the ad campaign is going to cover this 100 million dollar bill. As I seem to recall, the Starburst Plaza funds are being drawn from the $20 million allocated for Benning Road, no?

So then, when they presented this $100 million plan several months ago, they were anticipating the Comcast deal as a means to pay for it?

It's not Comcast but sort of, it's Clear Channel. Completely different companies. H Street streetscape money has merely been reprogrammed into the Great Streets program, which is a repackaging of previously extant DDOT neighborhood streetscape initiatives.
