Filling in the Spaces in the 1100 Block of H Street
You know all that vacant space (1113-1117) on the south side of the 1100 block of H? Well, the District's got big plans for it. For reference sake I'll tell you that Family Dollar is located at 1121 H Street, and Me and My Supermarket is at 1111 H Street, so the parcel in question is currently behind a big white fence.
From the website of the District of Columbia Office of the Deputy Mayor for Economic Development:
The District seeks the rehabilitation of properties from 1113 to 1117 H Street, NE. The project is an example of one of the targeted corridors of the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development Great Streets Initiative. The District and its development partners are constructing rental housing units on top of ground floor retail.
The partner for this project is H Street Partners, LLC (AKA Wall Development). Total budget estimated at $3.5 million.

Does anyone know if the developer has plans to address parking?
$3.5 million isn't a lot of money for the large scale renovation they seem to be envisioning. Will be interesting to see a more in depth plan.
Check out the Wall Development website. They've never "developed" anything before. The firm appears to exist on government contracts.
This website was removed from the internet while Stanley Wall was up for confirmation after Mayor Fenty appointed him as Chairman of the Zoning Commission. The appointment ran into some kind of trouble after his hearing before the City Council and he was never confirmed.
This is not rehabilitation. The property is a vacant lot so it will be new construction.
The proposed project is moving forward, but the final building will look nothing like what is in the rendering. Mr. Wall is actively working to redesign it to make it less suburban and fit better into the architectural styles of H street.
The building will have ground floor retail and 16 units of housing (including a significant number of affordable housing units.)
There will be two meetings in the next month, where this project will be discussed.
The first meeting will be at ANC 6A’s October 20th Economic Development and Zoning Committee Meeting. Mr. Wall will be there and present sketches of the building's massing and architecture. He will also be available to answer questions from the community. This meeting will take place at 7pm at the Sherwood Recreation Center (2nd Floor) located at 640 10th St NE.
The second meeting will be hosted by the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development and will take place on November 8th. The meeting is required by DC law and is intended to obtain community feedback on whether the land should be surplused. It will also take place at 7pm at the Sherwood Recreation Center (2nd Floor) located at 640 10th St NE.
Everyone is welcome to attend both meetings to learn about the project, ask questions and express concerns. If you would like to contact me directly, I am available at 202-431-4305.

Whew, glad to hear it's not supposed to look like that picture, because that's atrocious! (at least for the location). Thanks for the info, Drew.
Drew,
Do you have a picture of what the buildinig will look like or access ?
