Back to School Resource Fair & a Community Clean Up in Carver-Langston

Back2School_FINAL

Carver-Langston resident Sydelle Moore sent me information on two events of interest she's helping to organize over that way.

The first is a backpack giveaway and community resource fair Thursday, August 17th 5–7 pm at the Patsy V. Hartfield Center (2026 Maryland Avenue NE). A host of organizations will be on hand to share information. The will be food and games, and the first 50 there kids will get free school supplies.

The following agencies will be in attendance...
CTTCA
DC Public Library
DC Office of Aging
Representatives from Kenyan McDuffie's office
DCVote
DC Healthy Start Project
Community of Hope Health Services

They are still fundraising for the event and hope that as many people as possible will give to this very worthy cause. You can donate on a GoFundMe page they have set up. They've already raised $345 of the $500 they need to make the event a success.

You can also help out by volunteering to give out flyers, or assist with event set up and clean up. For more information on that you can reach out to Ms. Moore directly.

The second event is the last scheduled group clean up for the summer. It's this Saturday, August 12th 10 am–2 pm. Volunteers should meet at the alley entrance across from 2056 H Street NE. Gloves, trashbags, and tools will be provided.
