An H Street History Tour & a Mosaic Theater Show Sept. 10th
The Jewish Historical Society of Greater Washington is offering a walking tour of H Street NE on Sunday, September 10th. The tour will focus on the corridor's immigrant roots and Jewish history in our ever-changing neighborhood. After the tour the group will head over to the Atlas Performing Arts Center (1333 H Street NE) for a performance and post-show discussion of Mosaic Theater's production of The Devil's Music: The Life and Blues of Bessie Smith.
The play tells the story of the Empress of the Blues in her re-imagined final evening being turned away from a whites only theater. The production features some of Smith's best known hits.
The tour starts at 1 pm, and participants should meet outside the CVS (645 H Street NE). The Mosaic show runs 3–5:30 pm.
You can register online. Tickets to the tour, the play, and post-production discussion are $65. That's good deal because normally tickets to the show itself will cost you 65 bucks. You can also buy tickets for only the play and post-production discussion ($50), or tickets for just the tour ($15).
