The Teen Victim in Thursday's Shooting has Died, & a Non-Fatal Shooting Sunday Near the Starburst

A vehicle of interest in Thursday's fatal shooting of 16 year old Taiyania Thompson

The victim in a shooting Thursday afternoon has succumbed to her injuries. Police responding to a call for a shooting at an apartment building about 3:10pm January 25th found 16 year old Taiyania Thompson suffering from a gunshot wound to the head inside an apartment. She was rushed to a hospital, but died yesterday. According to an MPD press release "[p]reliminary information suggests that this offense is potentially domestic in nature."

Police released the image above of a vehicle of interest. The vehicle is described as a 2017 white Kia Sorento SUV with a Maryland tag of 1DD2833. The car may have front end damage.



The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.  Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099.  Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by sending a text message to 50411.

Man Shot & Injured in the 1500 Block of Benning Road NE Sunday

In an unrelated incident, a man was shot yesterday afternoon in the 1500 block of Benning Road NE. He sustained wounds to the back and leg, but was conscious and breathing when police arrived.
