20 year-old Randall Francis, of SE DC, was killed and another man was injured in a double shooting in the 1800 block of Benning Road NE earlier today. The shooting took place about 1:49pm. Officers responding to a call for the sound of gunfire arrived on the scene to find two men suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The first victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. This information comes from a message sent to a neighborhood email group by Lieutenant Peter J. Frenzel, the original crime alert, and a press release issued by MPD regarding the homicide. The original crime alert included a lookout for a white vehicle with Virginia plates including the letters VM.
