Would-Be Jumper Safely at Union Station Safely in Custody
The Hopscotch Bridge was briefly closed to traffic around midnight as police negotiated with a man threatening to jump from the fifth floor of Union Station's parking garage. Alan Henney tweeted the news at 12:15am. 15 minutes later he updated that the situation was resolved with the man safely in custody and the bridge reopened.

Cardinal Auction Night Fundraiser April 26
The J.O. Wilson PTA will host their annual Cardinal Auction Night from 6–10pm Friday, April 26 at Anthology (625 H St. NE). J.O. Wilson (660 K St. NE) serves a diverse student body with a range of academic, social, and wellness needs. According to the website for the auction, the "majority of [the school's] students come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and almost half are considered at risk for academic failure due to factors such as homelessness or poverty." Enrollment is increasing and test scores are on the rise, but more challenges lie ahead. This year's auction is focused on raising funds for classroom technology such as laptops and monitors.

It's not too late to snag early bird tickets ($30, includes two drink tickets). Full price tickets will be $45 (includes two drink tickets). All proceeds from the event and silent auction will go to the PTA and it's efforts to support the school and students. Anyone can bid in the online auction, and they have some pretty cool stuff like knife sharpening from District Cutlery, a reservation and dinner for two at Rose's Luxury, and Backstreet Boys tickets.

One more crisis, where three outstanding local nonprofits (City Year, Literacy Lab, and Reading Partners) could really use our help - ServeDC neglected to file paperwork in time, costing the three groups $3.75M in federal funds for FY2020.
