Local Event Round-Up: Babies, Education & Promoting NE Businesses

A Royal Baby Charity Shower at The Queen Vic
In honor of Meghan and Harry's new baby boy The Queen Vic (1206 H St. NE) will host an extended Royal Baby's Charity Shower. Guests who bring in an unwrapped gift suitable for an expectant/new parent to the tavern between now and May 12 will be rewarded with a baby shot of Jameson. All gifts will be donated to The National Center for Children and Families.

TasteEd Dinner Series Kicks Off
On May 16 GrantEd Foundation, a local non-profit for public school teachers, (and the organization behind the Taste of H) is teaming up with Smith Commons (1245 H St. NE) for the first of a communal dinner series called TastEd. "Enjoy a bespoke menu of five courses, each with wine pairing, and the sommelier on hand to enhance your experience. Popular H Street mainstay Smith Commons pulls out all the stops at this unique event. Chef Kamal Chanaka has created a sumptuous menu to celebrate Washington's tradition of culinary experiences for a cause." Tickets are $150. Half of the ticket price will go to fund GrantEd teacher grants and is tax deductible.

Learn About Northeast Eats 2019 at the Pug 
Head to The Pug (1234 H St. NE) from 8–10pm this Thursday (May 9) for a Northeast Eats ticket party. Learn about Northeast Eats, a ticketed event set to take place at DC Brau (3178 Bladensburg Rd NE Suite B) June 1 that highlights local food and drink. You won't need tickets for The Pug, but tickets for the actual event are $50 for general admission (full access to unlimited tasting of the best local food and beverage products made in Northeast), or $20 for those under 21 or who will not be drinking (access to all food options and non-alcoholic beverages).
