Fruit Bat Comes to 1236 H Street

Fruit bat exposing tip of tongue, originally uploaded by MDL.hu.

I've mention before that a craft cocktail lounge will occupy the space left vacant by H Street Martini Lounge. I've also mentioned that it would come courtesy of the guys behind Wisdom.  Now H Street Great Street has some more detail, including a name: Fruit Bat. HSGS reports that the place will have a South American theme, so expect lots of good summer drinks, with a tropical flair. This pretty much guarantees that you'll see pisco sours, and capirinhas. Other than that, I expect the drink list will look a bit like the specialty cocktail offerings from Ceiba and Cafe Citron (link plays loud music). The kitchen will offer up South American street food. Sounds interesting.

The Argonaut is Playing Games

P1010160
Or rather, it wants to play games. The Argonaut (1433 H Street) is seeking donations of used board games (with all the pieces). Head down to the Argo with your complete board game and trade it for a complementary beer. Anyone willing to part with their By Jove? Also, keep your eyes open for menu changes at the Argonaut.

Checking Out the Pug

IMG_4312
A Carver Terrace resident enjoys a Guinness at the Pug. The Pug (1234 H Street) hopes to offer a couple of beers on tap. One will likely be Guinness, and the other will probably be a regional brew (which I think they've already selected, I just don't know which one it is). Now offering paninis.

Pug to Open Tomorrow

Ok, I've heard it from a few sources, and now the Going Out Gurus are reporting it. So I'm going to call it official: the Pug (1234 H Street) will open tomorrow. I stopped by the other night and gazed through the door at the lit-up (but locked) bar. It looks great. I'm not much for sports bars, but I look forward to checking this (boxing themed) bar out.

On March 3rd the group will be hosting From the Circus to the Sea: H Street NE Nite Life Tour (consisting of visiting the Argonaut, the Red and the Black, H Street Martini Lounge, Palace of Wonders).
